Green Bay Packers 1966 green nylon jersey # 66
In 1958, one year before the arrival of the legendary Vince Lombardi, the Packers drafted Ray Nitschke in the third round. Nitschke became the Packers stable linebacker throughout the 1960’s, helping them to five Championship titles throughout the decade. In 1962 the Packers won their second straight NFL Championship as Nitschke earned MVP honors for his performance in the game. In 1966, the NFL began meeting the AFL champion for a game that would become known as the Super Bowl. The Packers, led by the defensive leadership of Nitschke, won the first two title games.
